Kitchen wall removal: The wall between the kitchen and the family room was replaced with a new beam, joining both rooms into one open space with a clear view across the island.
What every project has in common
Engineered: A licensed engineer designed the beam and the supports for that specific house.
Permitted: We pulled the city permit and the work passed inspection.
Finished: Ceiling and floor patched where the wall stood, ready for paint.
Warrantied: Backed by our 12-year written, transferable warranty.
How we plan an opening
Before any wall comes out, we look at what it carries: ceiling joists, the roof or a second floor. That tells the engineer what beam the opening needs and where the posts go, and it tells you what the finished room will look like.
Frisco, TX: A flat, closed-in layout became a tall, open living space with exposed wood beams, connecting the living room, kitchen and dining area.

Real jobs, real homes: Every photo on this page comes from an actual DFW Wall Removal project.
Before and after: what changes
The biggest change is light and flow. A wall that split the kitchen from the living room usually blocked the windows on one side of the house; once it’s gone, daylight reaches both rooms and you can see across the whole space.
The second change is how the house is used. Families tell us they cook, eat and spend evenings in the same room instead of three separate ones.
What you see in our photos
Some of our photos show the finished room; others show the work in progress, with shoring in place and the new beam going up. We include both because the part you don’t see in the finished room is the part that makes it safe.
Flush and dropped beams
In some projects the beam is hidden inside the ceiling, so the ceiling looks flat from room to room. In others, the beam drops below the ceiling and becomes part of the design, often wrapped in wood. The engineer decides what each house allows.
Raised and vaulted ceilings
Several of our projects combine a removed wall with a raised ceiling, like the Frisco living room above. Learn how that works on our raised and vaulted ceilings page.
